4 Ingredient Homemade Deodorant

One of the biggest and easiest things you can do for your health and hormones is limit the amount of toxins and chemicals you are exposed to.  Every day we are exposed to so many chemicals that over time it will start to create havoc in your body- and cause an imbalance in your hormones.

It can be overwhelming if you are just starting to make the healthier changes in your life that I always suggest starting with one room in your home at a time.

This is about progress not perfection and knowledge is power.  When we know better we can do better!

As a women in my late 40's I have been dealing with hormonal issues for a few years now as I embrace perimenopause and I am always looking at what I can do to help my body eliminate the symptoms I deal with.

Personal care items is a big one for us ladies!  I also realize this is a very personal area so naturally you need to start where you can and what works for you.

The average woman puts a whopping 168 chemicals on their body every single day!  Wow!!  The endocrine system of those ladies is likely screaming for some TLC!

I like to suggest to my clients to start making changes in this area of their life first.  One item at a time even- but our skin is the largest organ we have and everything we put on it matters.

I know most of us depend on our deodorant like the air we breathe and this particular swap can feel so hard.  There's nothing worse then feeling your armpits get wet and worry about someone seeing or heaven forbid smelling you!!

The pit falls ( see what I did there lol) of using regular deodorant and antiperspirants vary from skin irritations, health risks, and even making your body sweat more!

When you use chemical laden deodorants you are actually clogging up your pores and when this happens your body can't properly release the sweat thats necessary to cool us down and release toxins.

Also ladies- you are slathering deodorant on near your breasts and some reports claim that the chemicals found in deodorant can be absorbed through your skin- causing estrogen like hormonal effects.

What's worse- Alzheimer's and breast cancer have been linked to aluminum compounds found in antiperspirants!!

This alone should be a HELL NO!

I know natural deodorants can be hard to adjust to and finding one that actually works feels daunting but I promise you this 4 ingredient homemade one I make from pantry items is magical.

My friend Jen reminded me of this simple recipe a few months ago and I got back to making it.

Takes a couple of minutes to make and lasts a few months!!

Heres what you need in equal parts-

Coconut Oil

Baking Soda

Arrowroot Starch

I use 1tbsp each for this 2oz size of jar- but you can adjust to fill any size jar.

I like to use 6-8 drops of Essential oil.

Mix together and fill jar.  Its that easy!!

This recipe keeps me fresh all day and I love knowing I am supporting my hormones!
